How to waterproof shoes using wax candles

  1. Get a candle. If you have one lying around at home, this could be the best time for you to make use of it. If you do not have one, go to your local grocery store and look for candles. It would not cost you a lot, promise.
  2. Rub the candle generously to your shoe. The more wax you get in your shoe, the more waterproof it will be.
  3. Grab a hair dryer, if you do not have one you can borrow one or buy a cheap one (it will still do the trick), and give your shoe a nice blow dry. Since the air that is coming out from a hair dryer is warm, you would notice that the wax would start to melt and seep into your shoe. That is a good sign. The wax will create a protective layer by cover the points where the water can come in. Once done, set aside to cool.

You can do a test of your shoe if it has been already coated properly with wax before wearing it, by pouring small amount of water to your shoe.
